Response to AERA Committee Call for Evidence and Views on Climate Change (No.2) Bill

In 2021 the Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee launched a call for evidence and views on the Climate Change (No. 2) Bill for Northern Ireland. The Climate Change (No.2) Bill introduced by the Minister for the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (AERA) establishes legislation to mitigate the effects of Climate Change locally.

Response to DAERA Consultation on a Northern Ireland Peatland Strategy 2021-2040

In 2021 DAERA ran a consultation to inform the draft Northern Ireland Peatland Strategy 2021-2040. The document set out draft objectives and actions considered necessary to ensure that semi-natural peatlands are conserved and restored to functioning ecosystems. 

The consultation ran for a period of twelve weeks until 1st September 2021.

Response to Call for Evidence for a Circular Economy Strategic Framework

In 2021, the Minister for Economy extended an invitation to Sustainable NI be a part of the Northern Ireland Circular Economy Coalition, inviting participants to respond to a questionnaire to collect evidence and views to support the development of a Circular Economy Strategic Framework (CESF).

Response to AERA Committee Consultation on Climate Change (No.1) Bill for Northern Ireland

In 2021 the Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee launched a call for evidence and views on the Climate Change (No.1) Bill for Northern Ireland. The Bill sets out a framework to mitigate the effects of Climate Change in the coming years. 

Response to Consultation on Policy Options for the Energy Strategy

In 2021 the Department for Economy launched a public consultation on policy options to achieve a decarbonised energy future for Northern Ireland. This built on the evidence received and the key issues identified through the Call for Evidence process, which took place in 2020.   

Response to Call for Evidence on Strategic Review of NI Agri Food

In 2021 DAERA launched a public consultation seeking evidence to inform a strategic review of the NI agri-food sector, commissioned to help set the strategic direction of the sector. The review was led Sir Peter Kendall.

In 2020, the Department for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) launched a Discussion Document seeking views on a number of environmental governance issues that arise due to UK withdrawal from the EU.
