It's easy to feel overwhelmed. To not know where to begin - or what changes make a difference.
We've done the research and these 16 Steps have been selected by experts from the UN Environment Programme based on 3 criteria:
Everyone needs to start somewhere. Don't worry if you're only able to take some steps and not others. There's something for everyone.
Stay local, make a video call, or find a new way to explore the world.
Get around green - travel by bike or foot instead of the car. Take public transport for longer journeys.
Make your next car an electric or hybrid vehicle.
Upgrade your home’s insulation and use draught blockers around doors and windows.
Switch to a 100% renewable electricity tariff.
Pur solar panels on your roof to generate free renewable electricity.
Set your heating on a timer and set the thermostat to 19°C.
Plan meals in advance and always write a shopping list. Freeze any food leftover or going off.
Incorporate one or two plant-based meals into your weekly routine and build on it over time.
Seasonal = Local. Check where your food comes from and prioritise locally sourced food.
Invest in well-made garments in good-quality fabric. Look for secondhand items if possible.
Buy what you need and use what you have.
Vote for leaders who support climate action.
Be proactive in educating and mobilising your colleagues to take action.
