Sustainable NI is supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in embracing digital transformation and building long-term sustainable and economic resilience through the Enterprise Digitalisation And Transformation Alliance (E-DATA). The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

Project aims and objectives

The overall objective of E-DATA is to support SMEs in overcoming digital transformation challenges, enabling them to become more innovative, competitive and productive.

Participating SMEs in Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland will receive fully funded digital transformation support, empowering businesses to adopt technologies that lower costs and improve productivity whilst strengthening long‑term resilience.

By addressing challenges such as limited resources, infrastructure constraints, and evolving workforce needs, the project helps organisations transition toward more efficient, low‑carbon operations.

Key aims

  • Enhancing SME Growth and Competitiveness
  • Providing Practical Support
  • Building Resilience
  • Fostering Collaboration
  • Delivering Innovation
  • Embedding Sustainability

Our role

In collaboration with Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Ulster University, Manufacturing NI and Innovate NI, Sustainable NI will deliver a programme of sustainability workshops to help businesses reduce their energy use, lower carbon emissions, and integrate new technologies aimed at making the business more productive and competitive.

As digital adoption becomes essential not only for competitiveness but also for meeting sustainability goals, E‑DATA will provide expert guidance and practical implementation in areas including artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, automation, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. These technologies will be deployed with a strong emphasis on resource efficiency, circular‑economy thinking, and sustainable innovation, fostering cross‑border collaboration that supports greener, more future‑ready SMEs.

Project funding

E-DATA is co-funded under the PEACEPLUS Programme by the European Union and the UK Government.

It falls under Programme Priority IA2.1: Delivering Economic Regeneration and Transformation.

The overall grant awarded for the E-DATA project is €6,760,687.73
