Screening Decisions for Sustainability

The ‘Screening Decisions for Sustainability’ course equips public sector organisations with a
tool and methodology to integrate sustainability into their decision-making processes.
Participants will learn how to evaluate the environmental and social impacts of proposed
actions using Sustainable NI’s innovative web-based decision tool. Through expert guidance
and practical demonstrations, this course will help embed sustainability into everyday
decisions, ensuring that projects and proposals minimise harm and promote positive
outcomes for the environment and society.

Course Format:

A concise 1-hour introduction covering the fundamentals, ideal if you are short on time or ideal for raising awareness across teams and departments.

By the end of the course, participants will

  • Understand the importance of embedding sustainability into decision-making
    processes.
  • Gain proficiency in using Sustainable NI’s web-based decision tool to assess
    environmental and social impacts.
  • Learn to identify and evaluate sustainability risks and opportunities within proposed
    actions.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for decision-makers in public sector organisations, including councils. The key audience includes senior leaders seeking to ensure organisational decisions align with sustainability goals, managers involved in planning, project evaluation, and implementation, and sustainability officers responsible for promoting sustainable practices.
