Mahon Point - A climate-friendly shopping experience

Background

Mahon Point Shopping Centre is one of Ireland's largest shopping centres, with over 60 stores. Other services include Weekly Farmers Market, FreeStyle Advisor Service, Drop-in Creche, Free Parking and Direct Bus Routes. In 2015 Mahon Point Shopping Centre became the first building in Ireland to be accredited with BREEAM in use certification. BREEAM is the world's longest established and most widely used method of assessing, rating and certifying the sustainability of buildings.

"Everyone is aware of the climate changes in our industry, and we have introduced a range of initiatives over the years from solar panels, LED lighting, 100 per cent recycling of products, use of technology where we can, farmers markets, the list goes on. It's a journey, and it's never-ending […] but worth it for the longer-term picture. We'd like to leave our legacy in a better place from how we got it", Justin Young, General Manager, Mahon Point Shopping Centre.
