Embedding Well-being in Northern Ireland - project participants

The Carnegie UK Trust has announced the participants in their new project Embedding Well-being in Northern Ireland.

The Carnegie Roundtable on Measuring Well-being in Northern Ireland contributed to the development of the wellbeing outcomes approach in the draft Programme for Government, which have been mirrored in local council Community Plans. The Trust is continuing its work in Northern Ireland by working with stakeholders at local government level to bridge the gap between the aspirations for Northern Ireland and the outcomes for local people.

The Trust’s new Embedding Well-being in Northern Ireland project will offer financial and in-kind support for Community Planning Partnerships to implement a local wellbeing outcomes approach in the following local authority areas:

  •          Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council;
  •          Derry City and Strabane District Council; and
  •          Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council.

The project will support the Community Planning Partnerships to overcome challenges in implementing their Community Plan which they identified as a priority in the project’s Expression of Interest process, to which all Community Planning Partnerships in Northern Ireland applied. The participants will share the learning from project with the other Community Planning Partnerships to help improve local well-being outcomes across Northern Ireland.

The Trust has also announced that it is developing an Embedding Well-being support network to harness the enthusiasm and expertise of stakeholders who are supportive of the project, for project participants and the wider Community Planning Partnerships across Northern Ireland to utilise throughout the duration of the programme.

The three year peer-to-peer support programme, operating from 2018 to 2020, will allow the participating Community Planning Partnerships to learn from each other and that of international best practice in addressing common themes and similar challenges, and share this with other local authorities in Northern Ireland. Sustainable NI will be looking for ways to support and enhance the Embedding Well-being project, through its work with community planning partnerships to deliver sustainable development goals at a local level.
