Energy efficiency at Greenbank Depot in Newry

Greenbank Depot is one of the largest of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council's premises consisting of offices, lorry depot, fleet maintenance garage and council stores.

The following energy upgrade works were carried out:

  • upgrading of all Boundary Floodlighting to LED
  • installation of 8 kWp Photovoltaic System
  • removal of electric heating at maintenance office block and replace with wet heating system
  • replace single glazed windows with double glazed energy rated A windows
  • cladded insulation to canteens hot water tank
  • repairs to faulty radiators in office blocks
  • upgrade stores & garage hi bay lighting to LED lighting with individual sensor controls (before and after pictures adjacent)

The works have resulted in an annul saving of £9,300 in electricity costs (35% reduction) and £5,500 in oil and biomass savings (18% reduction). This has been reflected in the site's energy rating which has improved from an 'F' rating in 2012 to a 'C' rating in 2016.
