Swap Shop Networking

This initiative was designed to build networks among all those groups currently involved in using materials that might otherwise go to landfill. The goods 'swapped' might be used locally, for example through refurbishment and provision to those in social need; sold locally to raise money to help others; or they may be sent abroad to help people in less advantaged countries. Sustainable Northern Ireland idenfitied and encouraged effective partnerships amongst numerous charity shops which are primarily concerned with the re-use of goods. The hope is that together they can campaign together as one stronger voice to increase public awareness and establish government support structures that encourage significant increases in the amount of goods removed from the waste stream and put to further use.
